The Tropical Hideawayの続報です。2018年末にオープン予定の新エリアに、なんと1963年以来ずっと姿を見せていなかった、Bird Mobileのアンサンブル、「Rosita」が登場することが発表されました。

Rositaは、オリジナルのチキルームにおいて、“Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing”のシーンで登場するコーラス担当の美しいオウム、なのですが、なぜかショー中では見当たらず、ホセから「I wonder what happened to Rosita…」と心配されていました。が、今回その姿が初めて、新設エリアのThe Tropical Hideaway内にて明らかになります。どうやらRositaはこの場所で、ゲストやスキッパーに向けジョークを飛ばし、ソロ活動として元気な姿を見せるようです。

最近、特に伝統担当パークである本家ディズニーランドでは、それを大きく揺るがすかのごとく、昔ながらのアトラクションやエリアに手が加えられていってます。Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edgeやカリブの海賊などなど。しかしそこにキャプテン・レックスを忍ばせたり、新たな女海賊を登場させるなど、うるさ型のマニアもうなる展開を見せるのも大きな特徴です。
特に今回、ザ・ディズニーランドともいうべきチキルーム近辺でのリノベーションで、お隣のジャングルクルーズもあわせて不可侵領域的なエリアに手を加えるという話の中に、セリフでしか出てこなかった鳥を登場させるアイデアは実にディズニーっぽくていいですね。これは間違いなくウォルトも喜ぶし昔からのマニアもひざポンです。この手があったか……。
