2018年5月、さらなる店舗が2つオープンしました。どちらもディズニーのリゾートらしいお店です。リリースと写真を元にご紹介しましょう。
マスターソムリエによるワインを楽しめる「Wine Bar George」
Wine Bar George, a new 210-seat wine bar reminiscent of a winemaker’s home estate, is coming to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. Opening spring 2018, Master Sommelier George Miliotes will bring his expertise to the eponymous bar that will feature wines from famed growing regions in the United States and abroad – more than 100 selections by the bottle and glass. まずは5月19日、ディズニー・スプリングスに新たにオープンしたワインバー「Wine Bar George」を。初めてこのお店が明らかになったのはずいぶん前のことで、当初は2017年秋にオープン予定だったバーです。それがやっとオープン。

マスターソムリエであり、店名にもなっているジョージさんは、もともとディズニー・コンテンポラリー・リゾートのレストラン「カリフォルニア・グリル」のオープニングスタッフであり、のちに2002年まではマネージャーとして従事されていた方。その方が自分の名前を冠するバーをウォルト・ディズニー・ワールドに帰還してオープンした、というのがポイントです。
このバーでは40を超える地域から130本を超えるワインを用意し、それに合う料理ももちろん提供します。座席数は200と大変大きめで、リゾートならではのゆったりとした体験ができそうですね。

From the “D” post
私、ディズニーのテーマパークのすごいところとして、各種さまざまな方向の趣味や文化の入り口を味見させてくれることだと思ってるんですよ。例えばいまの東京ならば、ビッグバンドなジャズの入り口が用意されてますし、ラテンミュージックを知るショーもありました。2000年初頭にはダンスミュージックというかディスコの雰囲気を味わうこともできましたね。そのほかにも食の分野で、普通に生きていたらなかなか体感できないメニューがすぐそこにあったりするわけですよ。
で、最近のディズニー・スプリングス。今回の「ワインバー」をはじめ、アジアンテイストの「Morimoto Asia」とか、アメリカ料理を楽しめる「The Edison」とか「Polite Pig」、「D-lux Burger」なとバラエティにとんだ、本格的なダイニングが増えました。アメリカ各地から特徴のある店舗を呼んだり、ディズニー自身も本格チョコレート店を出したり、ここにくれば「本物」をほんのちょっと味わうことができるようになってるのがすっごくうらやましいです。多分これがディズニーパークスの考える「リゾート」なんだと思うんですよね。
思えばここ、ダウンタウン・ディズニーのプレジャーアイランドといえば、若きジョー・ロードが手がけ、現在のS.E.A.にも通じるテーマの源流となった「The Adventurers Club」をはじめとする、むっちゃくちゃ凝ったナイトクラブが複数ありました。が、それも昔。多分あれはあれで正解だったのでしょうが、コストのかかり具合なんかを考えると、より多くの人が幸せを感じられる、現在のディズニー・スプリングスの戦略がより正しいんじゃないかと思います。
ディズニー・スプリングス、ほっとくと日本からのゲストが素通りしてしまう場所なんですよねえ。ことウォルト・ディズニー・ワールドにおいてはTwitterやネット検索では伝わりにくい魅力があるんですよね。そんなお店だなー、とか思いました。あんまり飲めないけど、次にオーランド行ったときにはぜひ行ってみたい。
